Judgement Day on 107.7 The Bone

A couple of weeks ago we were on 107.7 The Bone. It was pretty cool. The Bone is a Bay Area radio station that plays bands like Guns’n Roses, Poison, Led Zeppelin and all of the other totally rock’n bands of music history. It was quite an honor to join those ranks. We did a nice interview and played a couple of acoustic songs. Check it out:

Summer Tour Blog (Abridged) + Bay Bridged Podcast + more

We’re home from tour now. It was pretty epic. We saw Canada and the east coast. We watched Radiohead play an amazing show in front of the Statue of Liberty. We partied with some crazy Brazillian rockers. We carried a 1500 pound organ up 2 flights of stairs. We drove way too much. We learned that the iphone will get you lost every time you try to use it for directions. Anton learned French for the Montreal show. Lewis danced around on stage in a leopard suit. Jon was there. And then we flew home. Cool things to check out:

  • The Bay Bridged Podcast – An in depth interview, a few songs from our records and one exclusive live track: “The Rise and Fall of Teotihuacan”
  • Bay Guardian Feature – A nice print interview and story about us in a sweet weekly Bay Area paper.
  • The Sprockettes dance to Flight II - This Portland-based all female “bicycle dance troupe” recently went on tour with Flight II as one of the songs in their set. more videos here

  • Evolution of Media Review – Sweet review of Opus 3: Acoustic

Flying Around the Country + Conan Link

“The Battle” – Photo by Riki Feldman

We are on tour with Mates of State. It’s been pretty intense. In 3 days we played in New York, San Francisco and Portland. We’ve been flying everywhere and renting new gear every day. So it’s a little bit different from the car tours we’ve been doing in Judgement Day.

Conan O’Brien was super fun. We all shook Conan’s hand which was pretty sweet. One of the questions that everyone keeps asking me is “is he tall?”. He’s definitely tall but after all of the build up I have to say he really didn’t seem that mind-blowingly tall. I might just say above-average height. La Bamba played trombone on our set too. He’s awesome. He wished us good luck on our tour and told us he missed touring himself.

If you want to see the Conan performance click here.

Lewis and I have been jamming a bunch on our breaks too and coming up with some cool new Judgement Day ideas. It’s been even more productive for us than when we’re home. We’re also thinking about pulling some guerrilla moves at some of the upcoming shows and playing some Judgement Day songs in the crowd before the show or something. We’ll see…

Finally, our good friend Nate Heller from Wendy Darling did a sweet remix of Coda in E Major from Opus 3: Acoustic. I think it sounds great so we’ve got it here for our free download of the week:

Metal Orchestra Class

One of the highlights of the “Four-Door Tour” was that in Salem Oregon we taught a metal seminar to about 40 high school and middle orchestra students. It was awesome. After playing our usual set we taught them all metal riffs and got them all to jam along with us. They rocked! The local paper The Statesman Journal was there and made a great little video article about it.

CHECK IT OUR HERE

Thanks to West Salem Orchestra Director Darryl Silberman for hooking us up with this awesome gig. We’re very excited to get back to Salem again soon for a sweet club show.
